This extraordinary piece is made by the renowned Israeli Judaica artist Ester Shahaf. Shahaf brings her own style to the ancient tradition. This Hamsa hand is made of aluminum, topped with 24K gold, painted with enamel and decorated with a Swarovski crystal. The Hebrew word "Chai" inscribed at the top of the Hamsa appears in the slogan "ʿam yisraʾel ḥay!" (The people of Israel lives!). The seven-branched candelabrum is the Menorah - One of the oldest symbols of the Jewish faith. A symbol of the nation of Israel and its mission to be "a light unto the nations."
The Hamsa hand itself is a main motif in the Judaism. It is believed to ward off the evil eye and protect from jealousy.
